Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition Wi-Fi 16GB

The Motorola Xoom gained its fame as the world’s first tablet running on Android 3.0 Honeycomb; the OS designed especially for tablets.

The new Xoom 2 is the sequel to the original tablet that offers a few technological and aesthetic improvements. It comes in two versions: Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition.

The Xoom 2 Media Edition features a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processing chip which is 20% faster than that of its older sibling. It runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb but is expected to get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in early 2012.

One of the biggest innovations featured on the new Xoom 2 ME is the integration of MotoCast. This application, somewhat similar to Apple’s iCloud, enables you to access your personal computer remotely and play your music, movies, and photos directly on your tablet. This revolutionary approach doesn’t require you to move, save or even upload your media on your various devices. Simply magical! By the way, the Motorola RAZR also benefits from this improvement.

The Xoom 2 Media Edition is equipped with an 8.2-inch IPS capacitive screen with scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass and 1280x800 resolution. It includes 1GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. It further features a rear 5 megapixel camera that can shoot videos up to 1080p and a 3 MP front facing camera.

In terms of aesthetics, the straight and robust lines of the original Xoom are a thing of the past as the new Xoom adopts softer and more rounded corners for a more comfortable hold. Above all, the entire tablet has been equipped with anti-drop coating (even the electrical circuits inside) for an unparallel protection against splashes.
